 History of the District

The District was formed in the early 1950s to provide water and sanitary sewer service to residents in the southeastern portion of Jefferson County.

Bancroft-Clover Water and Sanitation District has been a master meter distributor of Denver Water since 1961. The District buys treated water from Denver Water at wholesale rates and distributes it within the Bancroft-Clover service area.

Bancroft-Clover is a member municipality of the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District. The wastewater Bancroft-Clover collects is treated at the Metro District’s Robert W. Hite Treatment Facility in Commerce City.

A large portion of the District was incorporated into the new City of Lakewood. The District’s drinking water was originally pumped from wells and stored in a tank where the District’s office sits today.

The Bancroft Water and Sanitation District merged with the Cloverdale Water and Sanitation District and became known as the Bancroft-Clover Water and Sanitation District in 1980. This merger extended the District’s service territory south to approximately Morrison Road.

The District merged in 1985 with the Kelton Heights Water and Sanitation District and extended its eastern boundary to Sheridan Boulevard.
